Outstanding students recite very well. They perform verbally as well as in examinations. But some teachers give a higher edge to those who excel in recitation because it itas spontaneous. Reciting in class is like speaking in public. Others listen to what you say and observe how you look. If you are emotionally fearful, self-conscious or insecure, reciting will be scary for you. But if you want to be an effective student, you will overcome that fright and insecurity. There is no substitute for confidence. Confidence comes only from knowing that you know the answer. Effective studying requires that you obtain and understand the needed information and recite it in class. If you have the information, there is no reason why you should not have confidence. And there is no reason why you cannot recite well.
